Eastern Europe geographically refers to the eastern part of the European continent but has a wide range of geopolitical, geographical, cultural, and socioeconomic connotations. Eastern Europe may be referd as a econo-cultural entity lying in Europe with main characteristics consisting in Byzantine, Orthodox, and some Turco-Islamic influences.
In termes of ideological conflict during the Cold War it was related to a solid ideological Bloc, the commnist.
The Black Sea is an inland sea located between far-southeastern Europe and the far-western edges of the continent of Asia and surounded by Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia and Georgia. Its only exit to the Mediterranean Sea is firstly through the Bosporus Strait and the Sea of Marmara and seondly through the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Crete providing an invaluable trade route.
