A public health perspective

For each hypothetical scenario a description of the initial event and disaster site is given and followed by an outline framework of potential response, within the context of population vulnerability. The historical backdrop, religious characteristics, technological, economic, ethnic and linguistic diversities are given consideration. In an attempt to confer a degree of standardization existing processes are taken into account. In other words the basic functions of society and emergency response plans are noted for the country in which the disaster takes place. If the disaster spreads then multiple country descriptions become necessary.
